Woodlot

Run many Claude Code sessions
side by side. Then walk away.

Woodlot is a Mac app that runs Claude Code in isolated git worktrees, many at once. Give an instruction, leave your desk, and come back only when it's your turn—a notification tells you. It can also loop overnight: pick up issues, open PRs, watch CI, merge, repeat.

Woodlot session overview with running and waiting cards

Three ideas, nothing else

running

One session, one worktree

Every session gets its own git worktree, and Claude Code works autonomously inside it. Sessions never step on each other, so run as many as you like.

your turn

Come back only when called

A multiple-choice question, a finished session, a turn that ended with background work still running. Only when a human decision is needed do you get a desktop notification and a Dock badge, and the card pulses.

loop

From issue to merged PR

Picks up the GitHub issues assigned to you one by one, implements, opens a PR, waits for CI, merges, and moves on. Keeps going with the lid closed.

Requirements

MacApple Silicon (M1 or later), macOS 12 or later
Claude CodeA Claude subscription and the claude CLI, installed and logged in (claude starts in your terminal; run claude update to be current)
gitXcode Command Line Tools (xcode-select --install). A brand-new Mac doesn't have them yet
Optionalgh (for loops), Chrome with the Claude in Chrome extension (for browser use)

The wrench in the top-right corner (⌘P → “Setup”) checks all of this for you and shows a one-liner to paste for anything missing.

Install

  1. Download the DMG, open it, and drag Woodlot.app to /Applications
  2. Launch it. Allow the macOS prompts that appear on first run (notifications, folder access)
  3. Click “+ New session”, pick a repository, type an instruction in the box at the bottom, and press ⌘Enter

The app is Developer ID signed and notarized, so it opens with a double-click. Updates are automatic: when a new version is out, a banner says so, and one click swaps it in.

Privacy

  • Woodlot itself never sends your code or conversations anywhere. Conversation logs live only on this Mac, under ~/.woodlot
  • Signing in to Claude happens in Claude Code's own flow. Woodlot never reads, stores, or proxies your credentials or tokens; it launches the Claude Code you installed, unmodified and not bundled
  • What does talk to the network is the claude CLI (Anthropic) and gh (GitHub), each under your own account and their own terms and privacy policies
  • To check for updates, the app asks dl.woodlot.app for the current version once at launch and every 6 hours (your IP address appears in Cloudflare's access logs). There is no other telemetry or analytics
